Administrator September 17, 2010 4

A study led by Reuven Sandyk, Paul Consroe, Lawrence Z. Stern, and Stuart R. Snider was conducted to see the effect of Cannabidiol a non-psychotropic drug on 3 patients who have been suffering from Huntington’s disease for 7 to 12 years. The subjects were given a 300 mg/dose that was orally administered for the 1st week and then increased to 600mg/dose for the remaining 3 weeks. It was observed that choreic movements were improved by 5 to 15% during the first week using the tongue protrusion test and a chorea severity evaluation scale. There was an additional improvement of 20 to 40% after the second week of CBD treatment and it remained stable for the remaining 2 weeks. When the patients stopped the CBD treatment after 48 hours the choreic movement returned to their original state.
