Dwayne Bowe became the latest professional athlete to be arrested for marijuana possession. Late Saturday night, police in Riverside, MO pulled over Bowe’s vehicle for speeding. He was clocked going 48 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Upon initial contact, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. Eventually the vehicle was searched by a K-9 dog and more than 10 grams of weed was found. Bowe was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and later released after posting a $750 bond. He has a court date set for December 18th.
Missouri has some of the strictest marijuana laws in the country. Possession of even one gram is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Dwayne Bowe currently ranks third on the Chiefs’ in receiving yards and 2nd in receptions with 33. Team officials have not commented on possible punishment and Dwayne is scheduled to start in this week’s highly anticipated match up against the Denver Broncos.
